Kurt and Jani,
This is Linda, John Scannell's former bride. I learned of your family's struggle yesterday and have read the entire blog.

First, I will never forget the warmth and unity you exhibited during John's and my wedding and the most beautiful and heartfelt wedding gift - Jani the capturing of our children in your beautiful painting. And then our delightful follow-up visit with you and your children when John and I came for Christmas.

I know in my heart of being that you will weather this perfect storm. True love and faith can conquer all. I still love that difficult man and know that I have not sustained the turmoil for a decade for nothing - we all are worthy of great devotion.

May I pass along two of my favorite literary quotes which have sustained me during some very trying times. They support the belief that you, Kurt, have much more to give while on this earth. We need your presence - continue the good fight~victory is at hand:
1. No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the maine; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontorie were, as if a manor of thy friends or thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. John Donne as quoted by Ernest Hemingway in For Whom the Bell Tolls
2. Where there is great love there are always great miracles. Willa Carther in Death Comes for the Archbishop
Kurt, Jani, David and Maddi you are all loved and held up by the power of more than you know.
Linda

Oh my goodness, that's great news. I'll keep my fingers crossed for sooner rather than later. (I've been lurking for a while--Greg pointed out your blog to me. You've got family in Kentucky thinking about you!)

All the best,
Sarah Jane B.

Hey Kurt,
I have been checking here regularly and getting the occassional update from Mike Y.

Seeing you deal with this helps me keep my day to day "stuff" in perspective. Keep at it.

You're in our thoughts and prayers.
