12/23

found out this morning that i get to celebrate christmas at the university of chicago's mitchell hospital. the bacteria is still present in my body and they won't send me home until completely gone. i'm obviously very disappointed. i guess "i won't be home for christmas" after all. it sounds like maybe friday, but they've led me on all week. we'll see. my love to everyone and wishes for a joyous and healthy holiday.

Kurt,

Sorry to hear the news today. We know that UCMC is not where you would like to be on Christmas day. When they have finally gotten rid of the "bug" in your lung and your counts are high enough, we will celebrate Christmas and all be together again. The beef tenderloin will taste much better when you are able to enjoy it with us. Keep your spirits up. This too will pass.

Kurt,
That's a real bummer...but you, Jani and the kids try to have as good a Christmas as you can. When this is over, the whole family will have a great big celebration! Our ongoing love, prayers and thoughts are with you.

MAYBE THEY ARE PREPARING YOU JUST IN CASE. BUT THE HOLIDAY CAN BE POSTPONED UNTIL FRIDAY IF THE CASE MAY BE. THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO GET YOU BACK ON YOUR FEET. THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT WILL BE THERE ON FRIDAY. BE STRONG, YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS. WE LOVE AND PRAY FOR YOU.

Dear Kurt: So sorry not to spend Christmas with you and the family, but the more important thing is for you to get the bug out so you'll be ready for your transplant. Hey Jesus wasn't really born on the 25th, someone just chose that date so we could have a December holiday, so you don't have to celebrate Christmas on the 25th. You'll be with the ones that count so enjoy. Get well soon. Love you and still praying. TMIL Carla
